Indiana is one of the most gun friendly states in the nation, in part due to the efforts of the Indiana State Rifle & Pistol Association, National Rifle Association and other groups of concerned citizens and yet, many attendees at the Indy 1500, one of the largest gun shows east of the Mississippi, are not members of any of these organizations. An opportunity exists for you, as an individual or a club, to man NRA and ISRPA booths at gun shows to share information about your clubs and matches and to recruit members for the ISRPA and NRA. When NRA members are recruited or renewed at the gun shows, at least five dollars of the dues goes to the recruiter (for the Indy 1500, the money goes into the youth shooter development fund of the ISRPA). As an added bonus, when new ISRPA members are recruited, the name of the recruiter (as is the first time member) is placed in the drawing for the new AR-15 rifle to be offered when the 250th new member is recruited. Recruiters also get into the gun show free. At the March Indy 1500, nearly 60 NRA or ISRPA memberships were gained.
Help is particularly needed for the June 1 – 3 Indy 1500. Additional Indy 1500 shows are August 24-26 and November 2-4. If interested in helping at the Indy 1500 or organizing a booth at your local gun shows, contact Bill Jordan. (email vp@isrpa.org)
