Conventional Pistol in Indiana

By Wayne P. Bruzzese V-P Pistol

As the outdoor season of shooting in Indiana came to a close with the NRA Regional Championship in October, many of you put up your guns in expectation of warmer weather in the spring. But wait… There are many opportunities to continue shooting throughout the cold weather months. If you live in the south, you can shoot regularly in Georgetown at the Southern Indiana Rifle & Pistol Club. Charlie Davis and the gang host many excellent indoor 1800 matches. If you live up north, Elkhart, who hosts one of the NRA Indoor Sectional matches, has an excellent facility. And those in Central Indiana should know that The Muncie Gun Club has pistol leagues on Monday and Thursday and will host our 2006 Indiana State 1800 Indoor Championship again this year on April 1 and 2. I encourage all of you to keep shooting this winter. I also encourage you to bring a friend and introduce them to Bullseye shooting.

Bill Jordan and Charles Wilhelm continue to work with our younger shooters. Do you know a young boy or girl that may be interested in shooting? ISRPA would like to develop a National Champion Youth Pistol Team. The resources have been put in place and we have the volunteers. What we are missing are young shooters. Look around you at your clubs, schools, churches and neighbors. Give Bill, Charles or me a call and we will be glad to talk to the parents and the youth.

It takes all of us to help keep our sport growing. I look forward to 2006. Remember, “Be Safe, Make Noise, and Have Fun”.
