Women On Target – at Fall Creek!

By Jan Wright, Director, Women of the ISRPA

A woman and a pistol – what a beautiful sight! June 18 th saw twenty-seven of them! Fall Creek Valley Conservation Club hosted an NRA Women On Target® Pistol Clinic on Father's Day Weekend. The place was full of women eager to learn more about pistol shooting. Donn Bonner and his dedicated staff ran a smooth, all-day clinic once again.

Instruction included both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols.

The day started with comprehensive gun safety. The agenda included types of bullets, how to load, semi-auto vs. revolver, and how to aim the various guns available for the ladies' training.

With such a large crowd, Donn asked the local lodge to cater lunch. Homemade beef ‘n' noodles are hard to beat! Of course, the best part was AFTER lunch! That's when the shooting began! Some of the ladies had never shot anything , while others had been to the trap clinics at Fall Creek, but had never shot a pistol. There were also some who had shot their husband's pistol, but knew it wasn't what they would have selected. They're hooked now! Seeing the enjoyment on their faces when they left the firing line made it all worthwhile. With one instructor for every two ladies, everyone had a personal, hands-on learning experience. The fun came when everyone had taken their turns and the firing line was now open. The ladies clamored to get a spot on the line and try another pistol. Now the fear factor was gone and the fun of shooting began!

Keep up the good work, Fall Creek!
